Ang left on Tuesday, this has been the first weekend we have been here alone. It was a very week, I volunteered at Tony's school Monday-Thursday helping with school pictures. The little ones are so cute and were so excited when they found out who I was. One little guy in kindergarten asked if I came from Canada with Mr. Makowski and did I know I lived in Alberta in the grasslands near the mountains lol. His little eyes kept growing with each word out of his mouth. Another little girl told me that Mr. Makowski had the "funnest" ties, his Superman tie is her favourite. I really enjoyed listening to their stories.
The middle school and senior high students were typical, no different from any other student I worked with. The lady that worked with me was very nice. She took me to an awesome coffee shop with cheap coffee that tastes GREAT!!! We went for lunch on Thursday at the coffee place too.
I finally picked up a phone - YEAH now I call people when I need to. Decided to look for work after our family trip to Orlando, truly doubt I will find anything but I do have a couple of contact numbers for the government and their school office. For those of you who don't know Tony and I are meeting the boys and Alycia in Orlando for a fun family holiday. I can't wait, we are going to Disney World and Universal - get to go to Harry Potter.
The weather here has been great but it did rain a lot this weekend. It is supposed to be beautiful from Tuesday on. There is a tropical storm/hurricane that has been hanging out in the ocean for over a week now and of course that has caused me great pain. No, not worrying about it because it isn't a threat to Bermuda but it does cause changes in the barometric pressure which causes me migraines. I did bring a lot of my prescription with me but I do need to see a doctor here to get more. Tony found us a doctor already, I just have to make an appointment and go. It isn't like at home, he called her one day and had an appointment that afternoon - no waiting days to see your doctor. Hopefully I will never have to find out what the hospitals are like.
Tony has been riding his scooter every day!!! He loves it, especially that it only costs him about $5 a week for gas. I am still trying to work up the courage to go on it with him. I did ride on it when we went to Grotto Bay which is a 5 minute ride. My feet doesn't touch the foot rest so I had to figure out what to do with them and by the time we got there my legs were tired. I squeezed them into the scooter because he told me not to move when I was on the back lol. In time I will be fine to ride around on it. He took it to pick up a few groceries and was very happy with how many bags he could carry on the scooter and his back pack.
Yesterday we spent the day with friends. I felt spoiled, never had to cook or wash dishes. Great food, great friends and wonderful conversation. We took the bus home and Tony drove Celine home on the back of the scooter. She is the same age as Josh and I didn't want her out on the roads after dark all alone so I said she had to take the bus home with us and then Tony would drive her home. She refers to Tony and Van as her "Bermuda dads" because they are the same age as her dads lol. She is a great kid and teacher. Today they went to 5 beaches and she took him out for lunch.
Well, I am going to the school this week to help count raffle tickets and to help with the Open House on Wednesday. I am very excited because I am taking the #1 bus into Hamilton and I will get to see Johnny Barnes. Ang sent me a YouTube link about this Bermudian who greats the traffic coming into Hamilton by waving, blowing kisses and yelling out, "I love you!" He is there every morning rain or shine from 6-10. I will let you know all about him next week.
Miss and love you all,
Leanne
p.s. too tired to proof this so ignore spelling and grammar
